In this article, the author recommends methods of instituting a salary program based on objective analyses of the functions performed and the qualifications required for the position. Consideration should be given to the following five components of a salary program: developing job descriptions; classifying jobs; evaluating jobs; surveying wages and salaries in comparable organizations; and administering salaries.
