Description
If we are to sustain the water supplies and water infrastructure that are so important to thehealth of our people and the environment, we must be smarter about water use. Individuals,communities, industry, and government can all help to protect the quality and quantity of thenation’s water supply. Often, the information needed to use water more efficiently is notavailable. The US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) sees a potential role it can play in the marketplace by identifying water-efficientproducts and informing purchasers of the advantages of those products. This paper discusses how the USEPA will need to partnerwith manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, water and wastewater utilities, states, environmentalgroups, consumer organizations and others to successfully transform the market for water-efficientproducts.
